Obituary

Mrs. Alice Jackson Leggette, 93, of 1700 Harrison Ave. passed gently away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Leggette was born October 10, 1921 in W-S, NC and was educated in the Winston-Salem School System.

She worked and was retired from RJR Tobacco Company after over fifty years of service, and she was a faithful member of Saint James AME Church until her health failed. Mrs. Leggette was a lover of people in and out of her community and was involved in her social club which she loved. She was much loved and adored by her family of which she was the matriarch.

Mrs. Leggette was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel Jackson; two brothers, Andrew and Henry Jackson; and three sisters, Elizabeth Teemer, Helen Smith, and Sadie Hairston.

Leaving to honor and cherish her wonderful life are her children, Theodore Leggette and Mabel (Stephen) Bohannon; left to remember her with affection are her grandchildren, Deon and David Cobb, Stephen, Jr. and Ilicia Bohannon, and Theodore Ross; six great-grandchildren; three nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Leggette will be held at 12noon Friday, December 26, 2014 at Saint James AME Church, 1501 Patterson Ave. with Reverend Steven L. Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
