Mrs. Alfreda Whaley Johns, daughter of Henry and Lula Anderson Whaley was born on November 24, 1929 in St. Matthews, SC. She was the oldest of four children born to this union. She departed this earthly life on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, siblings, Fairy, Barno, Lewis Whaley and Clifton Whaley as well as her son Reginal Utsey.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her compassion and her love for God.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Gwandulyn Wright (Jake) of St. Matthews, SC and Jacqueline Jessup (James, Jr.) of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Charlene Waller (Steve), Katrice Gillens (Corin, Sr.) of Ohio, James Jessup, III (Naomi), Jeremy Jessup (Dana) of Winston-Salem, NC and Mechelle Utsey of SC; great grandchildren Corin Gillens, Jr., Charnelle Free, Kahrin Gillens, Jordan Jessup, Nathaniel King, Elliott Jessup, Alicia Jessup and Daisy Jessup; special friends, who where more like sisters, Zephryee James, Kaye Morgan, Phyllis McNeil, and Marlene Taylor, and a host of other friends and relatives.

At the family request, funeral services and arrangements are private.
