Obituary

Mr. Alfred Shaw, Sr., 59, the son of Marvin Shaw Sr., and Geneva Richardson Shaw Tyler went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, July 14, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Sumter, SC on August 7, 1948.

Mr. Shaw graduated from Atkins High School in 1968. He worked as a messenger for the city of Winston-Salem and at Miller's Variety Store. Until his health failed, Mr. Shaw was also employed at Springwood Care Center.

He was a member of Cedarcreek Missionary Baptist Church in Farmington, NC. He also attended church services at Sunrise Towers.

Mr. Shaw loved to sing. He sang at various churches, weddings and other events. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography and designing flower arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Shaw leaves to cherish his wonderful memories his loving mother, Geneva Tyler; two daughters, Katrina Harris and Candace Shaw; a son, Alfred (Patrice) Shaw Jr.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Shaw Jr., Greg (Diane) Shaw all of the Winston-Salem, NC; a devoted sister, Priscilla Kinard of Florence, SC; his extended brothers and sisters, David Tyler Jr., Jean Johnson, Joyce (Edward) Irby, Jerry Tyler, Annette Sibley, Shirley (Daren) Gaither and Inez Gerald; his caregiver and good friend, Almeta Caldwell; twelve nieces and nephews; a faithful friend to the family, Maria Leak, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Coker Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial gardens. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Friday at the funeral home
