Mr. Alfred Eugene Dobson, Jr. was born in Roanoke, VA on December 19, 1945 to Alfred Eugene Dobson, Sr. and Sarah Bias Johnson.  He passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

Alfred received his education from the Roanoke City Public Schools and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School.  He went to the United States Marine Corps and worked for and retired from Centenary United Methodist Church.  He then continued his working path for Family Services Child Development.

Alfred enjoyed being a father and loving friend that you could call on at anytime and he was there.  He was a good man that was loved by everyone.

Alfred was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Bias Johnson; father, Alfred E. Dobson, Sr.; and daughter, Janetta Dobson.

Alfred is survived by his father, Willie Johnson; ten children, Victoria Dobson, Janelle Dobson, Demetria Melton, Denise Y. Melton, Davell Dobson, J'Vaughn Dobson, Jared Dobson, K'Nyah Dobson, Jamire Dobson, and J'Un Dobson; ten grandchildren, Shontia Melton, Deshawn (Bianca) Melton, Antwuan (Kiaira) Melton, Delancie Melton, Chrishon V. Melton, Londyn Melton, Jermaine N. Ivy, Jr., DaNajee Dobson, Janetta L. Dobson, and Janae McCary; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of brothers and sisters, other family members and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Friday, April 30, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Centenary United Methodist Church.  Interment will be held at 9:00am Monday, May 3, 2021 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
