Alexander Shannon Woods, 98 known to many as "Rockhill", son of the late Mr. Major and Mrs. Maggie Woods was born October 28, 1910 in Rock Hill, SC. He made his transition into eternal life on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Woods was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where he was employed for 30 years. He was a baseball coach and dedicated volunteer for the Twin City Little League for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hubert Woods; one sister, Ethel Woods; and two granddaughters, Gale and Debra Brown.

He leaves to cherish precious and fond memories one daughter, Magaline Woods Foxx (Boysie) of the city; a devoted and dedicated grandson, Gary (Carolyn) Brown; a loyal granddaughter, Melanie (Michael) Blackmon both of the city; two granddaughters, Andrea Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX and Bozetta Foxx of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, Boysie Foxx, III of the city; and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 2, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 1:30 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
