Albert Lewis, known as "Sleepy", was born July 2, 1943 to the late Allen and Dorothy Lewis of Winston-Salem, NC. He departed this life Friday, June 20, 2014. He was employed with the Royal Cake Company, Winston-Salem State University as a cook, and he worked as a mechanic at Pilot Freight Line Company.
In his last days, he was known as one of the "Lewis" Brothers and he was a part of the McDonalds Crew.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther "Ham" Lyde and Ravon "Moot" Lewis; and his three sisters, Mary Rochelle, Carrie Stewart, and Delois Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memories five children, Latonia Lewis, Lamard Lewis, Crystal Lewis, Chasity (Denard) Jones all of W-S, NC and Lavette Lewis of Columbia, SC; fourteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Lewis and Melvin Lewis of the home; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; two devoted friends, Betty and Arlene; and host of other relatives and friends
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, June 27, 2014 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 6pm until 7pm Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
