Albert Johnson, 75, of 1905 Short Street departed this life on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on February 5, 1939 in W-S, NC where he was a life-long resident. He was the son of the late Sam B. and Georgianna Jones Johnson. He was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Johnson, Woodrow Johnson, and Leroy Johnson; and three sisters, Thelma Johnson, Doris Johnson, and Hattie Johnson Brown.
Everyone who knew him knew that he was a dedicated sports fan; his favorite sporting events were football and baseball. On any given Sunday you could always find him watching a ball game on television. In addition to his love for sports, he was a man who loved his family and they knew that they could count on him for support. He had a great love for children and a heart for helping people. He will be remembered for his playful sense of humor and his bubbly laughter.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Darrell Albert Johnson of the home; one grandson, Husan Brodders, of W-S, NC; one granddaughter, Donyae` Johnson of Stafford, VA; two sisters, Corine Johnson Brown and Wilhelmena Johnson Stroud of W-S, NC; a devoted nephew, Johnnie Johnson (Natesha) of W-S, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Monday at the Chapel.
