Albert Davis was born January 23, 1962 to the late James Davis, Jr. and Corine Washington Davis in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

He was better known as "Jay Bird" to his family and friends, and he was called home by God on Monday, May 20, 2024

He graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, NC, Class of 1981. He received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from North Carolina AT&T State University. Albert joined St. Stephen Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age.

Jay Bird loved to watch baseball and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going on vacations to the beach. Jay Bird also loved to dance and loved to listen to all kinds of music.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, James Davis, Jr. and Corine Washington Davis, Richard and Lorraine Robinson; and two brothers, Leon Davis and Bernard Ginyard.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted daughter, Shanice C. Davis of Winston-Salem, NC; one devoted sister, Cora Davis Sloan of Winston-Salem, NC, two brothers Ronnie (Alyson) Davis Sr., of Baltimore, MD and Johnny (Theresa) Davis of Winston-Salem, NC.; Two devoted nieces, La Mecca G. Smith and La Tonya (Ronnie) Bristol of Winston-Salem, NC; three nephews, LaVerne (Danita) Davis, of Columbus, Indiana, Ronnie Davis, Jr., of Baltimore, MD, and Richard (Kia) Davis Winston-Salem, NC; niece, Ra'Mona (Stanley) Carter, of Baltimore, MD; and a host of family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, May 24, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
