Adelaide "Laide" Price was born November 26, 1934, in Ellerbe, NC. The Lord called her home on January 26, 2024. She passed in her home while sleeping surrounded by family. Her illness may have been visible, but her name was already written on the Lambs Book of Life.
Adelaide graduated from Ellerbe High School in 1953. She attended Winston-Salem State University. She retired from Family Services as a preschool teacher and was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Montgomery "Monte" and Artie Mae (Nicholson) Martin; her daughter, Pamela Ingram; one brother, Fred Martin and one sister, Lamonte (Roosevelt) Hope.
She is survived by four children and one step-daughter. They are Jane Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC, Johnny (Diane) Ingram of Omaha, NE, Durelle Ingram and Willis (Deloris) Ingram of Winston-Salem NC, and Cleora (Roy) Mitchell of Marietta, GA; twelve grandchildren, Rodney (Temmicia) Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC, Damon (Nevada) Ingram of Dallas, GA, Torry (Saedah) Ingram of Farmer Branch, TX, Keshon Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC, Shara (Michael) McLendon, Jr. of Marietta, GA, Kyra (Bryan) Harris of Marietta, GA, Kwone Ingram of Charlotte, NC, Adrianne Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC, Erica (Melissa) Ingram of Greensboro, NC, "Little" Willis Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC, Jomar Ingram of Omaha, NE, and September Ingram of Winston-Salem, NC; eleven great-grandchildren, Devon Williamson, Alijah Anthony, Reg'shon Jefferys, Damanni, Adaven, Sharee, Torry Jr., Karter, Atlas, Ezra and Isaiah (Ingram's); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
"Laide" was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She had a heart of gold, which she wore proudly, for all to see. Should she hurt your feelings with the truth; she would say, "I have to tell you the truth otherwise I have discarded my grandmotherly duty."
Memorial services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 17, 2024 at First Calvary Baptist Church (401 NE Woodland Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101), with Pastor Derwin Montgomery officiating this lovely service. Inurnment will follow at Piney Grove Freewill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson Springs, North Carolina.
