  Mr. Roscoe Vernon Cooper 

Mr. Roscoe Vernon Cooper, 93, of Independence Village, ended his earthly journey on Monday morning, March 6, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Cooper was born November 9, 1912 in Washington, DC to Maude May Hawkins and John Wesley Cooper.
He graduated from Howard University with a BS Degree in Psychology and retired after 33 years of service from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Hughes Memorial Methodist Church for over 46 years where he was a faithful member and participated in several activities.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Alexander Cooper and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Frances Smackum Cooper; his daughter, Esther C. Rockette; grandchildren, Kenard C. Rockette (Donna), and Kim C. Rockette; great-grandchildren Brittany N., Briana N., Kiyesha C. and Rhaveana L. Rockette; cousins, James A. Deal, Robert White (Elizabeth), Marguerite (Frank) Better, and god daughter, Deloris Pryde.
Funeral services will be conducted at Hughes Memorial Methodist Church in Washington, DC on Saturday, March 11, 2006. Burial will follow in the Mt Olivet Cemetery, Washington, DC. Stewart Funeral Directors, Washington, DC are in charge of services and arrangements and locally to Russell Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hughes Memorial Church or the American Heart Association in the name of Roscoe Vernon Cooper.
