Mr. Bernard Edward Ceasar Sr.  

Mr. Bernard Edward Ceasar Sr. departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center. Bernard was born on Sept. 25, 1941, in Winston-Salem, the son of Winzo David Ceasar and Madiona Benson Ceasar. He was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system and attended Atkins High School. He retired from Sara Lee Corp. after 29 years of service, then went on to retire from Thomasville Furniture after 10 years of employment there. He was a Gold Star member and former deacon of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang in the Henry S. Lewis Cathedral Choir and in the Men's Chorus. Bernard was a passionate individual, who loved hard and loved long. He was dedicated to watching over family members and friends who fell on hard times. He knew how to crack a joke to lighten the mood and make someone feel better. He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, and was an avid bowler, winning numerous trophies over the years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madiona Benson Ceasar; his father, Winzo David Ceasar Sr.; his oldest brother, Melvin Benson Caesar Sr., and younger brother, Walter Cornelius Caesar Sr. He leaves behind two beloved sons, Bernard Ceasar Jr. (Rena) of Winston-Salem, and Patrick Lenwood Ceasar of Germantown, Md.; a great-aunt, Elizabeth Ceasar of Winston-Salem; a devoted brother, Winzo Ceasar Jr. (Helen) of Winston-Salem; his dearly loved granddaughter, Kelsey Alexis Ceasar, of Winston-Salem; nieces Lora Ceasar Rutherford, Valeria Ceasar, LaDonna Ceasar Davis (Preston), and Madiona Caesar; nephews Walter Caesar Jr., Craig Caesar, Winzo Ceasar III (Sharon) and Melvin Caesar Jr. (Greta); devoted great-nieces, Kanya Ceasar and Stacey Ceasar; a cherished cousin, Bruce Caesar (Jeannene); and a host of great-nieces and nephews, loving cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sherwood Davis Sr. officiating and the Rev. W.O. McCullough as eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.(RUSSELL)
