Mary Norris Callahan 

Mary Norris Callahan formerly of Silas Creek Manor and University Place departed this life on Saturday, May 27, 2006. Mrs. Callahan, affectionately known as “MISS PIGY” was born in Forsyth County, the daughter of Charles and Blanche Foster Thomas. She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, where she graduated from Atkins High School. She retired from the Bethlehem Day Care Center with more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Callahan; one sister; four brothers and two daughters, Dolly Norris and Claire Brown.
She is survived by six sons, James Norris, Charles (Mary) Norris, Robert (Patricia) Norris, Tommie (Faye) Thomas, Benjamin (Iris) Norris, Lorenzo (Gwen) Thomas and one daughter, Mary (Bishop James) Funderburk. She is also survived by forty-one grandchildren; a host of great grand and great, great grandchildren. There is also a special niece, Sandra Thomas and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2006 at 12:00 NOON from the Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will meet with friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral services.
The family would like to thank the staff at Forsyth Medical Center 1st Floor of ICU and the staff at Silas Creek Manor for all the care and attention they gave to our mother. We all loved and respected her until the end.
