  Master Isaiah DeJohn Brooks

Master Isaiah DeJohn Brooks, 13, of 2615 Horizon Lane, No. 5, Winston-Salem, departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006. He was born on Dec. 10, 1992, to Minister William C. Brooks Jr. of Raleigh and Barbara Ann Stevenson of Winston-Salem. Isaiah was a student of East Forsyth Middle School of Winston-Salem. He was a bright, intelligent child who enjoyed basketball, music, video games and reading. His favorite book was Salt in My Shoes by Michael Jordan. He was a member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized at the age of 9. Isaiah is survived and leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother, Barbara Stevenson, and father William C. Brooks Jr. of Raleigh; five sisters, Mary Vinson, Alice Stevenson, TaWanda Fulwood (Marvin), Barbara Vinson-Alexander (Warren) and Sheresse Stevenson, all of Winston-Salem; two brothers, David Stevenson and Jonathan Flake of Winston-Salem; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 132 North Glenn Ave., with the Rev. LaMont J. Johnson Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the church. The family may be contacted at the home of Barbara Stevenson, 2615 Horizon Lane, Apt. No. 5.
