Mr. Ivan Ricky Blakes

Mr. Ivan Ricky Blakes, “Rico,” 50, of 911 E. Third Street, Apt. B went home to his savior on Friday, October 6, 2006. He had been ill for a period of time and went peacefully in his sleep. He was born August 9, 1956, in Forsyth County to Margaret and James Blakes.

Mr. Blakes attended Forsyth County Schools and Union Baptist Church. He worked at the Comfort Inn Hotel until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Blakes; a niece, Margaret Blakes Alexander; and his grandmother, Katie Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving siblings, Walter Blakes, Mary Blakes White, Johnny Blakes (Yolanda), Randolph Blakes, and Ralph Blakes Sr. all of Winston-Salem, NC. He had several nieces and nephews, Michael Shell, Tanika Shell, Brita Wade, Brian Booker, Amina Blakes, Shante’ Blakes, Sonya Blakes, Desiree White, and Ralph Blakes Jr.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Johnny Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 pm Friday at the funeral home.

The family will proceed from 136 Dunleith Avenue to the funeral home.
