Queen Elizabeth Daniels Black

Queen Elizabeth Daniels Black departed this life Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Salisbury on July 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Mary Lee and John Daniels. Most of her life was spent here in Winston-Salem, where she attended Atkins High School, then went on to WSSU to obtain a teaching certificate. She attended John Wesley AME Zion Church before rejoining Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, which she considered home. She leaves behind her husband, Johnny Black Sr.; two sons, Adolphus "Al" Crosby and Delana "Danny" Crosby, all of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Tymphony "T.C." Crosby, of Greensboro; four sisters, Mary Morrison and Cassandra Daniels, both of Ninety-Six, S.C., Brenda Clark and a very devoted sister in Hazel Daniels, both of Winston-Salem; two brothers, James (Pearl) Daniels of Foxworth, Miss., and William (Janice) Daniels of Greensboro; five grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Goler Memorial AME Church, with the Rev. Seth O. Lartey officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the church.
