  Luther Darnell Banks 

Luther Darnell Banks, 51, of 849 Laverton Lane, Rural Hall, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at his residence. He was born Oct. 25, 1954, in Cape Charles, Va., to Whitley and Sarah Jane Banks. He attended the public schools in Eastville, Va., and graduated from Northampton High School. After graduation, he attended Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City on an athletics scholarship. Football was his heart. He graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a degree in industrial arts and teaching. After graduation in 1977, he moved to North Carolina. He was a member of Capeville Baptist Church in Cape Charles. He visited many churches in North Carolina but took Shiloh Baptist Church as his second home when health permitted. He was employed with Tyco Industries of Pegg Road in Greensboro. Banks leaves to cherish his memory a beloved wife, Sandra Banks; two sons, Kevin Christopher Banks and Victor Alexander Banks of Winston-Salem; five brothers, Whitley Banks of Melva, Va., Oliver Banks and Terry Banks of Cape Charles, Cornelius Banks of Fairfax, Va., and John Coles of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Deborah Coles, of Pennsylvania; a mother-in-law, Viola Lyons Marshall, of Wyndall; a brother-in-law, Duane Marshall, of Knightsdale; a best friend, Roosevelt Williams, of Trenton, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in the chapel of Russell Funeral Home, with the Rev, Dr. Paul A Lowe Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Bakers and Saunders Family Cemetery in Calls, Va. The family visitation will be from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home.
