William Shedrick Adams
On Wednesday, June 14, 2006, the beloved William Shedrick Adams answered his final call. “SHEDRICK” as he was affectionately known to many, lived in Winston-Salem most of his life. Shedrick resided at 191-B Greyhound Court, Winston-Salem, NC, had his final rest at Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center. He was born on August 1, 1939, to William and Ruth Adams. Shedrick attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools where he graduated from Atkins High School.. He furthered his education at Hampton Institute, now Hampton University. Shedrick served in the US Army until his honorable discharge in June of 1965. He was a retiree from the Federal Government Congressional Staff, where he assisted U. S. Congressman Steve Neal. William was a member of the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where his service was given as a member of the Senior Choir, the Men’s Chorus, the Sunday Church School, attended the Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Praise Ministries services, the Ministry for Community Service and Political Action, and the Laymen’s League. In the community, Shedrick was an active member of numerous organizations including the Democratic Party, the Civil Rights Movement, Civitan, 4H Club, Boy Scouts of America and many more. William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Adams; a sister, Agatha Adams of Philadelphia and his brother, Samuel Adams of Rocky Mount. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, William Aeric Adams of Wilmington, NC and Toure Miller (Maisha) of Greensboro, NC; one daughter, Tonja Adams of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Saundra Faye Adams MacIntosh of Los Angeles, CA, Carroll Adams McRae (Lonnie) of Winston-Salem, NC and Wilma Swynetta Adams-Martin of Ithaca, NY; four grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other close relatives and loving friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 1:00 PM from the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in the Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 12:00 NOON until 1:00 PM on Monday at the Church.
