Mr. Hurbie McNeil Adams

Mr. Hurbie McNeil Adams, 54, of 5719 Indiana Avenue departed from this life July 9, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Hurbie was born, the only son of Releist and Margie McCaskill Adams, on January 19, 1952 in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and was a former employee of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #128 and an honorary member of the Okalina Avenue Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Hurbie was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Javone A. Rice and Inese A. Williams. Hurbie leaves to rejoice in his memory a devoted and loving wife of 31 years, Jerlene Perkins Adams; a son, Releist M. Adams and a daughter, Kenya R. Adams both of Winston-Salem, NC; three precious grandchildren, Tariq France, Zani Fullard and Shikira Adams all of Winston-Salem, NC; four devoted sisters, Rita (Henry) Harris, Denise D. Adams, Tunisia (Christopher) Dodd and Tanya L. Adams all of Winston-Salem, NC; two nieces, Chevelle (Reginald) Jones and Talayia Williams and one nephew, Javone Ellis; two great nieces, Autumn Dunovant and Christina Jones; three great nephews, Herbert Miller, III, Wilbert Miller and Shawn Dunovant all of Winston-Salem, NC; a special cousin, Mary Sowell of Winston-Salem, NC; six aunts; four uncles; three sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law, two former brothers-in-law, Wilbert Rice and Robert Ellis both of Winston-Salem, NC; god-brother, Donald R. Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends..
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 6 pm until 7 pm on Friday, July 14, 2006 at the funeral home.
