Deacon Grover Williams

Deacon Grover Williams, 72, of 3757 Crestbrook Lane passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center unexpectedly. He was a native of Union Springs, Ala., born Jan. 19, 1933, the son of Ossie and Sterling Williams. He had lived in Akron, Ohio, for most of his adult life and had resided in Pfafftown since 1993. He was a member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Gospel Choir. He was a retired insurance salesman, had been a custodian at Winston-Salem State University and was presently employed with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, C.B. Williams, Richard Williams and the Rev. Joe Williams. Deacon Williams is survived by his devoted wife, Bessie Ramseur Williams of the home; daughters Pat Miles (Tommy), Shirley Gary (George), Cynthia Ramseur (Deon Watson), all of Akron, Ohio, Beverly Gray (Jeff) of Statesville, and Wanda Ramseur and Lisa Ramseur Williams, both of Mansfield, Ohio; sons Andre Ramseur and Allen Ramseur, both of Newark, N.J., Robert Chapman, Darrell Traylor and Darnell Traylor, all of Winston-Salem; 18 grandchildren; four devoted grandchildren, Arkeem Woods, Jodeci Ramseur and Marquel and Deon Ramseur; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lovell Williams (Pearl) of Akron, Ohio; a special niece, Kathryn Johnson (James) of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 6, at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Prince Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church.
