Ms. Gwendolyn Joyce Walker Howard, 56, formerly of 734 West 25th Street passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 8, 1949 in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of Virginia Mae Gwyn Walker who preceded her in death and Luther Odom Walker. She was a graduate of Paisley High School, Class of 1967. She married and moved to Birmingham, Ala. in the early 1970's. She was a member of the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young Adult Choir until her health failed.
She is survived by her father, Luther O. Walker; sisters, Carol Ann Walker and Linda Faye Walker both of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Clarence Bernard Walker, Russell Lee Walker, Sr. both of Winston-Salem, NC, Steven Ray Walker and Donald Keith Walker both of Birmingham, Ala.; two devoted nephews, Patrick D. Walker of Hampton, Virginia and Dontonio Walker of Alabaster, Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2005 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Prince Raney Rivers, officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at the Church.
