Mrs. Eva Mae Hillian-Wilson

Mrs. Eva Mae Hillian-Wilson, 63, of 2140 Jamestown Road, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was a native of Winston-Salem, born on Nov. 29, 1942, the daughter of the Rev. James Hillian and Eva L. Hillian. She attended Forsyth County schools and after graduation moved to Connecticut to continue her studies. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart University with a bachelor's degree in science, University of Bridgeport with a master's degree in counseling and Southern Connecticut State University at New Haven, with a master's degree in social work. She was a member of the American Lung Association, National Association of Social Workers and Southern Connecticut Social Work Alumni and was co-chair of Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of Connecticut. She was employed at Norwalk Hospital from 1970 to 1993 as a respiratory therapist and retired from Bridgeport Board of Education in Bridgeport, Conn., as a social worker. She was a member of Greater Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love, under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth H. Moales. After her illness she moved to Winston-Salem and joined Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church under the leadership of Bishop Sheldon McCarter. She was preceded in. death by her father, the Rev. James Hillian; an aunt, Catherine Little; and an uncle, Lorenzo Jones. Left to cherish her memories are two children, Terrance D. Hillian and Ingrid Renee' Pugh (Richard); her dear mother, Eva L. Hillian; six grandchildren, Latosha Hillian, Rashaad Hillian, Charvelle West-Hillian (Chris), Terrance Hillian Jr., Richelle Pugh and Jaden Hillian; three great-grandchildren, Keira West, Sariyah Hillian and Iayanna Hillian; three sisters, Carolyn Crutchfield (James), Annie Campbell and Viola Werts, all of Winston-Salem; four brothers, Donald Johnson of Southfield, Mich., and Calvin Hillian (Nancy), Cliffton Hillian (Patricia) and James Hillian Jr. (Vera), all of Winston-Salem; an aunt, Alberta Little of Winston-Salem; a godson, Lazarus Brown of Bridgeport; a goddaughter, Atia Padgett of Bridgeport; two special friends, Maxine Gwyn of Winston-Salem and Bonita Robinson of Bridgeport; a spiritual daughter, Vernell Smith of Bridgeport; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church, with Bishop Sheldon McCarter officiating and Bishop Kenneth H. Moales as eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.russellfuneralservice.com
