Mr. Willie James Young

Mr. Willie James Young, 90, of 1906 East 26th Street departed this life on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1915 in Laurens, SC, the son of Nipthurnal and Marriah Moon Young. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He was the owner/operator of W.J. Young Cement Construction, working in this business for over 50 years. He was a member of the First Calvary Baptist church where he served on the Senior Usher Board prior to his failing health. Mr. Young was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge #168 of Scottish Rites Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Doshia Marie Young and Amanda Poole, a son, Willie Young, Jr., and a grandson, Kenyon Poole.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of over 70 years, Theodosia Young; one son, George Young of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters and devoted son-in-law, Lillie Robertson of New York, NY and Valeria (Barnell) Blue of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Bessie Johnson of Laurens, SC, Sarah Moon of Hartsville, CN, Eddie Mae Boyd of Upper Marlboro, MD and Evelene Celey of Mount Rainer, MD; two brothers, Jasper Moon of Simpsonville, SC and Casper Moon of Fountain Inn, SC; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at First Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Jackson, officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
